Knob Noster, MO (July 19-2005)--Marion Jordon, Sr., newspaper publisher and founder and CEO of a minority-owned popcorn manufacturing and distribution plant 60 miles away from his newspaper’s headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, took time out of his busy schedule last Saturday, July 16, to give a personal tour of Jordon Foods Company (www.jordonfoods.com) and motivate ninth graders from the Kansas City, Missouri public school district about the importance of having a plan and following through with it—like obtaining a college education and going into business.

Black Businessman Pioneers Agri-Business Venture |
February is Black History Month and while we celebrate noted black pioneers of the past, there are many black pioneering businesses in our midst. One such company located in the Midwest is Jordon Foods Company, home of George Washington’s All-American Favorite Popcorn and other food products. Jordon Foods Company is one of the few, if not the only solely African-American-owned popcorn manufacturing plants in the nation. That fact alone speaks to the shortage of African-Americans interested in pursuing careers in agri-business.

Osco, Coca-Color Honor Local African-American Entrepreneurs |
| Kansas City , Missouri Mayor Pro Tem Alvin Brooks on Tuesday, congratulated Osco and Coca-Cola in their efforts to highlight African-American manufacturers and distributors of products that can be purchased locally at Osco Drug Stores. The event was a reception held at the John T. Thornberry Unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City.

Companies Help KCMSD Students Get Jump on College Experience |
Students from a number of Kansas City school district high schools took part in the first-ever “Summer Bridge Program” at Central Missouri State University. The students, all sophomores, spent three weeks at CMSU and got a taste of college life and the opportunities available to them. They toured Jordon Foods Company Saturday, July 17 th.
